I am going to get a little personal here.
It’s been almost 10 months since my ex-boyfriend broke up with me the night of a wedding. It still makes me sad every time I think about it. However, I now find peace in that suffering. After many sleepless nights and what felt like endless sobbing, I see that he truly did me a favor in the end.
Following that night, I carried on with whatever dignity I had left. What I didn’t realize at the time was the monstrous valley God was about to lead me through in the season ahead. I won’t spare you every detail; just know that, by the hem of His garment, I made it through.
The first four months were agonizing. I struggled to see my worth, I was lost with a pause in my career, and questioned what was next. Many nights were spent in quiet rooms, I began to find comfort in loneliness. And to be frank, I still do.
However, as much as one likes to turtle into their shell, it is important to engage in community. It doesn’t have to be long, maybe a few hours here and there. It’s good to get out of the house sometimes. Who knows, you might just have the best day ever.
Singleness is truly a gift. I see so much beauty in the becoming. These past several months have been immense preparation for my heart. Solitude has become my very best friend. As I continue to mend my ache, I know I can look forward to what lies ahead.
Just to be a little hopeless, I can’t wait to fall in love again. I dream of the day my husband sweeps me off my feet. Oh, I bet it will be romantic. Whoever I end up with has to be quite the charmer. Heaps of laughter and barrels of love.
Sweetly,
Samantha
