There’s Nothing Wrong With Being Your Own Wallflower –

The other night I was watching The Perks Of Being a Wallflower. This particular dialouge stood out to me.

Charlie asked “Why do nice People Choose the wrong people to date? – Mr. Anderson replies, “Because we accept the love we think we deserve.”

I related to Charlie so much in this movie. He and I are thinking and look at the world on a much bigger scale, timid of others’ thoughts, and tend to blame ourselves for bad things happening.

“The love we think we deserve,” and suddenly, this made all the sense in the world.

Why do I always feel like I’m worthless for those who aren’t worthy of my heart?

I ultimately have the most challenging time dating, and I get nervous around the ones I like. – Thinking I must represent the idea of what they want from me.

I tend to overthink and blame myself when things go wrong Realizing it is okay to be different – If only we could stop downplaying ourselves. Knowing what we deserve and not comparing ourselves to others’ timings.

Maybe the people we chase after are just not meant to work out – It is OK to be single and it is OK to be alone. We deserve the BEST. Enjoy the little things in life, and create your own happiness.

Let’s agree to be unapologetically kind to ourselves during these trying times. No matter the circumstance, we always can have faith that things can and will get better. So keep working on yourself, keep treating yourself as a number 1 priority, and, most importantly, love yourself.

Ask yourself: If you can’t love yourself, how would anyone else?

I love you!

Sweetly,

Samantha

  1. Love this Sam! I always like reading your blog posts! I loveeee this movie so much, and relate to it! I actually had to do a speech from the movie for a class in college haha! In my experience, I’ve always had the same sentiment that I’d wait for someone to come along and for it to make sense, for us to get along, and to end up with someone that could accept me for me and put me first. Luckily, I found that last year with my wonderful boyfriend and the last 10 months have been so great. I know there’s someone out for you girl and I’ll be rooting for you for when you’re ready and when that day comes! Be patient, learn to love yourself and things you like to do and the right person will come along at some point! It’s usually those times we stop looking is when we find what we were hoping for all along :)keep doing you girl!
