Life can be difficult sometimes – we all go through periods in our life where we feel as if we cannot overcome certain hurdles that hold us back.
In the past year, I have dealt with mental health issues, I did not love myself. I thought very low of myself and thought I could never do anything worthy.
BUT Little did I know, if you stick through the pain long enough you start to grow as a person. You will soon learn how strong you are, how beautiful your existence is to the universe, how much you mean to the people around you.
YOU ARE WORTHY.
After time went by I started to slowly realize what I was designed to do. Helping others tap into their true potential and pursue their dreams.
HOW TO LOVE YOURSELF:
JOT DOWN YOUR THOUGHTS/DREAMS
Start by writing, it doesn’t matter if you think you are good at it or not (I never thought I would be publishing my personal thoughts on the internet) Just write. Sooth your soul, jot down the good, the bad, and the ugly. This helps you grow as an individual and start having a personal relationship with your thoughts. I promise you as time goes on, you can re-read these reflections and see the strength you truly have.
GET A REGULAR SLEEP SCHEDULE
Get more sleep!!! I struggle with this every day, what helped me was creating a “sleepy” playlist of soothing songs that put my mind to ease. Next, I would unplug from technology. Our generation is so used to staring at a screen that we become so used to it (How scary right?) This will help you focus on YOUR wants and NEEDS; not others.
SELF-APPRECIATION PRACTICE
Start every morning by telling yourself 5 things you are grateful for. This does not have to be anything serious, mine are sometimes silly. With this, saying positive thoughts out loud can train your mind into thinking positively each and every day. You will soon start to see past all the negatives and focus on the things that make you happy.
TREAT YO’ SELF
I am my happiest when I buy a new cute outfit that I feel confident in or a new hairstyle (If you have self-image issues this will really help you) I also get a little pep in my step when I drink some yummy coffee or tea *hehe* I’m not saying go out and buy yourself a new wardrobe by all means, but every now and then it’s okay to treat yourself to something sweet, YOU DESERVE IT.
STOP COMPARING YOURSELF!!
I am guilty of this, I would spend hours on Instagram wondering how I could be prettier or thinner. With a generation so invested in social media, this is so harmful to peoples self-esteem. Just be yourself; be free. There comes a time where you realize that you physically can’t change who you are. Be comfortable in your own skin. Sadly, this doesn’t come overnight but with being mindful of yourself and who you are can help you in the long run.
LIVE YOUR LIFE
This sounds so simple, “yeah sam, I am already living my life duh” Well, there’s more to it. Live your life based on how you want to live it. Start doing things for yourself and be selfish. Go get that job/internship. Play the sport you love. Travel to all the places you want to see. Live for you. Live for all the moments you have yet to scratch the surface of, be true to yourself and never stop believing in your true potential. Don’t worry about what others are doing just create a tunnel vision of where you want to be in 5 years and start taking initiative towards it. The mind is a very powerful tool and the only thing that is holding you back is you.
xoxo,
Samantha
